Designed and manufactured entirely by Ortofon, the MC Vertex represents the culmination of decades of research in acoustics, mechanics, materials science and high-end cartridge engineering.
Built around a newly developed Vertex Diamond stylus, a solid diamond cantilever, titanium SLM body construction and an advanced magnetic generator system, the MC Vertex delivers extraordinary transparency, tracking precision, dynamic accuracy and spatial realism.

VERTEX – The Point Where Everything Aligns
Within the record groove, music exists as a continuous physical form. Retrieving that information accurately requires absolute control over movement, resonance, structure and mechanical behaviour.
The stylus follows the groove. The cantilever transfers movement. The suspension controls response. The coil system converts mechanical motion into electrical signal. Every component operates within defined limits, and the interaction between these elements determines the final sonic result.
The MC Vertex is the result of an extensive development process focused on achieving maximum precision, neutrality and musical coherence without artificial emphasis or coloration.
A New Reference Diamond
At the heart of the MC Vertex is a newly developed stylus geometry known as the Vertex Diamond. Engineered entirely by Ortofon, this advanced line-contact profile establishes a new reference in diamond stylus technology.
The Vertex Diamond features a highly optimised scanning radius of 4 µm combined with an extended contact radius of 110 µm. This advanced geometry significantly increases contact area along the groove walls while maintaining exceptional tracing precision.
The result is improved groove tracking accuracy, enhanced stability, lower distortion and superior retrieval of low-level musical detail.
Solid Diamond Cantilever
The stylus is mounted on a solid diamond cantilever, forming an ultra-rigid and extremely lightweight structure that ensures highly efficient energy transfer from groove to generator system.
Laser-cut manufacturing processes and ultra-tight tolerances guarantee exceptional alignment accuracy and mechanical stability. The cantilever is laser polished to achieve a perfectly uniform surface finish, minimising irregularities and unwanted mechanical artifacts.
This advanced construction enables stable tracking, exceptional transparency, precise spatial imaging and highly accurate reproduction of both micro and macro dynamics.
Structure Shaped for Sound
The MC Vertex cartridge body and internal core are manufactured from titanium using Ortofon’s advanced Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology.
This sophisticated manufacturing process allows extremely precise control over material density, wall thickness and internal geometry, creating a highly inert mechanical structure with outstanding resonance suppression.
A specially engineered internal damping cavity further reduces unwanted resonances and mechanical coloration.
The titanium body is finished with a durable DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating for enhanced surface hardness, longevity and an elegant black appearance. All logos are laser engraved directly into the titanium surface.
Magnetic Precision and Wide Range Damping
The MC Vertex incorporates a refined generator system featuring a non-magnetic armature, precision-wound high-purity silver coils and an optimised magnetic circuit.
The non-magnetic armature prevents magnetic interference within the moving system, ensuring highly stable signal generation, accurate channel balance and precise groove tracking.
Ortofon’s patented Wide Range Damping (WRD) system controls mechanical resonance across the full audible frequency spectrum. The system combines a platinum damping disc with two rubber compounds possessing different mechanical properties.
This advanced damping architecture allows precise energy control while maintaining dynamic responsiveness and natural tonal balance.
The result is exceptional coherence, transparency and musical realism across the entire frequency range.
