Όπως ο προκάτοχός του, το επιτυχημένο Classic 20, έτσι και το Classic 25 χρησιμοποιεί τη μοναδική Sandwich Cabinet Construction της Audio Physic.
Αυτό αποτελείται από έναν ισχυρό εσωτερικό πυρήνα, στον οποίο εξωτερικά κολλούνται γυάλινες πλάκες με βαφή στην πίσω όψη, χρησιμοποιώντας ελαστικές ταινίες συγκόλλησης ακρυλικού.
Λόγω των διαφορετικών χαρακτηριστικών συντονισμού του γυαλιού και του MDF, αλλά και των απορροφητικών ιδιοτήτων του ελαστικού ακρυλικού, οι δονήσεις κάθε είδους καταστέλλονται πολύ αποτελεσματικά, και ο ανεπιθύμητος “ήχος της καμπίνας” δεν αποτελεί πλέον πρόβλημα.
Ένα ακόμα αξεπέραστο πλεονέκτημα αυτών των γυάλινων πλακών είναι η εξαιρετικά ανθεκτική επιφάνεια υψηλής γυαλάδας, η οποία είναι πολύ ανώτερη από οποιοδήποτε συμβατικό φινίρισμα με βαφή. Ακόμα και μετά από πολλά χρόνια, θα φαίνονται τόσο άψογες όσο όταν ήταν καινούριες, χωρίς να έχουν χάσει τίποτα από τη λάμψη και το βάθος τους.
Το Classic 25 κληρονομεί και ένα ακόμη σχεδιαστικό χαρακτηριστικό από το Classic 20 – τον αόρατο υπογούφερ (Subwoofer). Τοποθετείται σε ξεχωριστό όγκο μέσα στην εσωτερική καμπίνα, ενώ η έξοδος bass-reflex βρίσκεται στο κάτω μέρος της καμπίνας, ανοιγμένη προς τη βάση του ηχείου. Ένα τμήμα υψηλής τεχνολογίας Ceramic Foam μπροστά από το άνοιγμα αποτρέπει ανεπιθύμητους θορύβους (chuffing) που είναι συνηθισμένοι σε άλλα σχέδια bass-reflex.
Ωστόσο, το woofer μέσα στο Classic 25 έχει μεγαλώσει σε μέγεθος σε σύγκριση με τον προκάτοχό του: τώρα έχει διάμετρο 8 ιντσών, προσφέροντας σημαντική βελτίωση στις χαμηλές συχνότητες.
Συνολικά, το νέο Classic 25 αποτελεί μια σημαντική βελτίωση σε σχέση με το ήδη πολύ καλό Classic 20. Η απόδοσή του είναι τόσο εντυπωσιακή που, από ακουστικής πλευράς, πλησιάζει ακόμα και μερικά από τα ηχεία της REFERENCE Line, όπως το Avanti 35. Στην πραγματική του κατηγορία τιμής, το Classic 25 είναι χωρίς αμφιβολία μοναδικό στην κατηγορία του.
Στις παραλλαγές με πραγματικό ξύλο, καρυδιά ή κεράσι, οι φυσικές ξύλινες επιφάνειες συναντούν το ευγενές μαύρο γυαλί στη στενή πρόσοψη, προσδίδοντας μια διακριτική και κομψή αισθητική.
Like its predecessor, the successful Classic 20, the Classic 25 uses our unique Sandwich Cabinet Construction. This consists of a strong internal core to which back-painted glass panels are glued from the outside with elastic acrylate adhesive stripes. Because of the completely different resonance characteristics of glass and MDF, and the damping properties of the elastic acrylate, vibrations of any kind are very effectively subdued, unwanted ‘cabinet sound’ is simply not an issue anymore.
The adhesive stripes also provide an exactly defined gap between the core and the outside panels, with a sound-insulating effect similar to that of double-glazed windows: There is no transmission of sound from the inside of the cabinet to the outside other than what comes out of the front of the drivers themselves. The overall effect is simple but stunning: What you hear is not the speaker but just pure music.
Another unbeatable advantage of these glass panels is their extremely durable high-gloss surface that’s vastly superior to any conventional paint finish. Even after many years they will look as pristine as when they were new, having lost nothing at all of their brilliance and depth.
The Classic 25 inherits another design specialty from the Classic 20 – the invisible Subwoofer. This is placed in its own volume inside the internal cabinet, the bass-reflex vent is located at the bottom of the cabinet, opening towards the speakers plinth. A piece of high-tech Ceramic Foam in front of the opening prevents undesirable chuffing noises common to other bass-reflex designs. However, the woofer inside the Classic 25 has grown in size compared to its predecessor: It now measures 8 inches in diameter, providing a significant improvement in low-end performance.
All other drivers represent the current state-of-the-art for our Classic Line, too. The midrange driver sports the unique Audio Physic Dual Basket Design, a woven glass fibre diaphragm and a Phase Plug mounted directly onto the magnet motor to help with heat management inside the driver. The attention to detail that went into this driver is especially important as the human ear is very susceptible in the frequency range covered by it because this is where most of the human voice happens. The clarity and naturalness of this drive unit’s sound are unrivalled in this price range.
The magnetic motor of the Classic 25’s tweeter is elaborately ventilated as well, so that the soft dome made by a German specialist company always finds ideal operating conditions even under heavy load. Thanks to the powerful motor and the low self-resonance, the tweeter achieves exemplary signal integrity far beyond the audible range. A small horn-shaped sound guide surrounds the actual dome and ensures a seamless transition between mid and high frequencies. So even outside of the so-called sweet spot you will be able to enjoy a relaxed musical experience.
All in all our new Classic 25 is a significant improvement from the already very good Classic 20. It’s so good, in fact, that in terms of acoustic performance it comes very close to some of our REFERENCE Line speakers like the Avanti 35. Within its actual price range, the Classic 25 is without doubt a class of its own.
With the real wood variants walnut or cherry, natural real wood surfaces meet noble black glass on the narrow front and thus convey restrained elegance.
