The Burr-Brown® PCM1792A, which complements our new streaming platform, is among the best currently available D / A converters. By using our own digital filter and a discrete transimpedance amplifier behind the converter stage we could improve it again.

The NDX 2 streaming section uses the latest Naim network technology and the interference-free, high-speed LVDS digital standard. Due to the high clock rate, all HD audio formats up to 32-bit / 384 kHz or DSD 128 can be played. However, our new streaming board does not use the source as the digital clock, but the master clock of the D / A converter used in the NDX 2. The data is oversampled in a SHARC DSP with extreme 40-bit accuracy before being fed to the Burr Brown PCM1791A digital-to-analog converter.

The NDX 2 features an integrated, low-noise power supply with a custom toroidal transformer and separate windings for the digital and analog stages. In addition, the player can be upgraded with an external power supply of the type XPS DR or 555 PS DR, which gives the sound even more depth and expression.

During the development phase of the NDX 2, our engineers have put every detail, from the mechanical design through the selection of components through to the PCB layout, to the acid test. The result is a network player that, thanks to its intense, detailed and rousing sound, is truly worthy of the Naim logo.
